Mills-Peninsula earns Stroke Center certification
Mills-Peninsula is first in San Mateo County to earn accreditation as a Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).

The certification means that Mills-Peninsula has demonstrated its stroke care program follows national standards and guidelines that can significantly improve outcomes for stroke patients.

Recognizing the first warning signs of stroke and getting expert medical help quickly is critical for successful treatment and recovery. Mills-Peninsula has a trained stroke treatment team that provides prompt diagnosis and treatment, including the most advanced medications to dissolve clots. Experienced neurologists and other clinical experts lead the team.

An experienced clinical nurse specialist with advanced training in stroke care and geriatrics follows progress of every patient, including recommending next steps, care at home and excellent short-term and long-term rehabilitation services.
