Fewer Women Get Annual Screening
San Mateo, local business, organizations and Mills-Peninsula’s Women’s Center are working together to urge women in our community to get the annual mammogram that can save their lives.
Who We Are
This project began when two local doctors, Andrea Metkus, M.D., and Harriet Borofsky, M.D., were alarmed at national studies showing that although breast cancer continues to be a major health concern, fewer women are getting the annual screening that could save their lives. The doctors wanted to do something powerful during October Breast Cancer Awareness Month in their own community to change that trend, and the San Mateo business community offered to help.
