Foster Grandparent Program
The Foster Grandparent Program provides low-income active seniors, 55 and older, an opportunity to subsidize their income through volunteer service. Sponsored by Mills-Peninsula Senior Focus and part of the Corporation for National and Community Service, the program links senior volunteers with agencies serving children in need within San Mateo County.
Foster Grandparents provide mentoring and nurturing to at-risk children at settings such as child development centers, Head Start programs, Transitional Kindergarten classrooms, and elementary schools.
Foster Grandparents receive small tax-free stipends in return for 15-40 hours of volunteer service weekly. Call (650) 696-7662 for more information.
