Mills-Peninsula offers several programs that allow Seniors to volunteer and give back to the community.

Foster Grandparent & Senior Companion Programs
The Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion Programs provide low-income active seniors an opportunity to subsidize their income through volunteer service. Sponsored by Mills-Peninsula Senior Focus and part of the Corporation for National and Community Service, the programs link senior volunteers with agencies serving children and seniors in need within San Mateo County.

Foster Grandparents provide mentoring and nurturing to at-risk children at settings such as day-care facilities and Head Start programs. Senior Companions assist frail seniors and homebound adults at settings such as adult day care centers and low-income housing sites.

Foster Grandparents and Senior Companions receive small tax-free stipends in return for 15-20 hours of volunteer service weekly. Call (650) 696-7662 for more information.

    Retired and Senior Volunteer Program
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is a nationwide network of experienced adults who contribute their time and talent to important programs that strengthen their communities. RSVP is sponsored by Mills-Peninsula Health Services’ Senior Focus and is part of the Corporation for National and Community Service.

More than 850 of your friends and neighbors in San Mateo and Northern Santa Clara Counties serve at more than 95 local agencies providing essential human services to make our community a better place.

RSVP volunteers work at public and private not-for-profit agencies throughout San Mateo and Northern Santa Clara Counties. RSVP volunteers are busy people involved with their families, friends and communities. Your RSVP work assignment is tailored to your schedule and interests, and becomes an important part of a fulfilled lifestyle. For more information, call (650) 696-7660.
