Caregiving Classes and Events
If you help care for a senior, you know the daily challenges that you face for providing for your loved one. We here in the Senior Focus program in Burlingame and San Mateo have classes and events to help you. We offer the following to make your path a little smoother - our programs include:

Tools for Effective Caregiving - June 8 & 15
This educational series focuses both on the needs of caregivers and their loved ones. Classes provide hands-on opportunities to learn practical skills and help people cope with the challenges of elder care. It also connects caregivers with support groups and other community resources. (This course is not for professional caregivers.)
Topics include:
Home Safety - fall prevention
Managing caregiving stress - understanding and working with difficult emotions
Management of challenging behaviors
Basic hands-on personal care skills

What About Me? Self Care for the Caregiver
What About Me is a FREE class designed specifically to meet the needs of those caring for an elder at home or a loved one who lives in a care setting. The focus is on SELF CARE. It addresses the caregiver's emotional, physical and spiritual needs. The class acknowledges the void that often exists in self care because of the intense demands of the caregiving role. In the end, the emphasis on self care will result in the delivery of excellent and reliable dependent care.
This course is not for professional caregivers.
Topics include:
MIND
Stress Management guided imagery, breathing, & healing touch
BODY
Diet, Exercise, & Rest
SPIRIT
Exploring Your Inner Self
