Caregiver tips from the Senior Focus News.
Nothing is more precious than independence, yet sustaining it can be a challenge as we grow older, even more so if health problems interfere with the simple activities of daily life.
Mills-Peninsula created Senior Focus in 1985 to help people protect their independence, with education about how to stay healthy in the first place and services to assist when challenges appear.
Nearly 20 years later, Senior Focus has matured into a trusted resource for families and a highly regarded partner and advisor for local agencies and organizations.
Representing the best current thinking about healthful aging, Senior Focus serves as educator, service provider and advocate for elders in the community, in the hospital and at home.
Held to a Higher Standard
Because Senior Focus is part of Mills-Peninsula, the programs and services it offers are held to a higher standard. For example, rehabilitation, medical day care, Alzheimer’s care, mental health and chemical dependency services meet the same stringent staffing and quality qualifications demanded of Mills-Peninsula’s hospital programs.
More Than Day Care
There is yet another benefit to Senior Focus’ Mills-Peninsula parentage. Participants in Senior Focus medical day programs benefit from much more than day care. While recreation and social contact are important, the added value is that a team of licensed clinical specialists work on specific goals to help people maintain their highest level of independence. These are services not found at other programs.
