Experience and Commitment
Mills-Peninsula's experienced respiratory care clinicians provide comprehensive care for patients in Peninsula Medical Center.

They also offer a full range of diagnostic testing for pulmonary disorders such as spirometry, full pulmonary function testing, blood gas procurement, pulse oximetry and bronchoscopy assistance. All testing requires a physician's order.

Special Programs

Smoking Cessation

Inpatient: Staying Free is a specialized program to help people quit smoking while they are in the hospital. A smoking cessation specialist offers education and counseling, then follows up to support the patient after they go home. There is no charge.

Outpatient: "Call it Quits" is a comprehensive four-week outpatient smoking cessation and relapse prevention program. It includes intensive two-hour sessions each week designed for people who must quit smoking now, and weekly ongoing relapse prevention meetings.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation
This program offers people with lung disease a lifesaving pathway back to active independence. It includes individually tailored, medically supervised exercise and education to regain energy and endurance for managing daily tasks and enjoying activities with family and friends. Meets two days per week for two hours, for a total of eight weeks. Sessions include educational discussions and graduated exercise tailored to the individual.

Doctor referral required. Fee. Program meets Medicare requirements for reimbursement.

Asthma Education
A one-hour education and training session for people with asthma. A licensed respiratory care practitioner teaches about asthma triggers and medications and provides training in how to use, clean and store aerosol generators, metered dose inhalers, spacers, dry powder inhalers and peak flow meters.

Doctor referral required. Wednesdays, by appointment only. Fee.
