    Geriatric Hip Fracture Program

You or a loved one has broken a hip. What’s the next step? Our Geriatric Fracture Pathway provides comprehensive, compassionate care tailored to the special needs of the elderly patient, including:

    • An experienced, multidisciplinary team of caregivers, who closely coordinate a personalized treatment plan
    • Reduced wait time for surgery for a faster recovery and fewer complications
    • Evidence-based pain management
    • Coordinated discharge planning
    • Physical therapy starting right after surgery to optimize mobility and speed recovery
    • Prevention and recovery support program and services

Our Care Goals – Faster Treatment, Better Outcomes

It is our goal to get you to surgery as quickly as possible to relieve pain, ensure a faster recovery and return you to your mobility before the fracture. Effective pain management, before and after surgery, is an essential component of your treatment plan.

Osteoporosis Prevention and Recovery Support Services

Hip fractures are most common in older adults (over 65) with weakened bones or osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a condition in which bones lose their normal strength, becoming porous and weak and prone to fractures. This silent disease progresses without noticeable symptoms until a fracture happens – usually due to a fall.

Our emphasis is on prevention – we offer a comprehensive range of resources and services to help you slow bone loss and avoid fractures. If you have experienced a hip fracture, our classes, programs and support groups can help both speed recovery and prevent future fractures. Our services include:

    • Bone densitometry tests and bone density heel screenings – 650-696-4750
    • Osteoporosis Class – Check the education calendar for an upcoming class or call 650-696-4750 for more information.
