    Heart Classes, Screenings & Support Groups

    Classes

    Heart Health
    For people without cardiac disease but who have risk factors such as high cholesterol, overweight and hypertension. Exercise and education program helps people reduce risk for cardiovascular disease. Get individualized exercise programs and guidelines for making healthy lifestyle changes. RN, EP supervise. Doctor referral required.

    Monday-Friday. Mills Health Center, Peninsula Medical Center. Fee.

    Heart Failure Exercise Program
    An exercise program designed to regain energy, endurance, improve cardiovascular health. Doctor referral required.

    Monday-Friday, Times vary. Cardiac Rehabilitation Gym, Mills Health Center. Fee.

    Heart Partners
    Support group for heart patients and family.

    Wednesdays, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Peninsula Medical Center.

    Medical Nutrition Therapy
    One on one sessions with a registered dietitian and certified diabetic educator who provide nutrition and lifestyle analysis with a personalized eating plan to manage pre-diabetes, diabetes, cardiovascular disease high cholesterol, high blood pressure, irritable bowel syndrome, kidney disease and weight management for adults and children.     Vascular Improvement Program
    For those experiencing leg pain or other circulation problems. MD referral required. For more information call 650-696-4914.

    Support Groups

    Mended Hearts Support Group
    Group is for open heart surgery candidates and survivors. Counselors who have had open heart surgery meet patients before and after surgery. First 30 minutes are open group discussion, followed by guest speakers including doctors, surgeons, specialists and health care insurance experts.

    Third Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., Monthly

    Stroke Support Group
    For people who have had a stroke and are able to participate in group discussions. Provides the opportunity to socialize, share feelings and learn how others are coping with similar problems. Enables people to give and receive emotional support.

    First Monday 3 to 4:30 p.m., Monthly
