    Childbirth Preparation-Great Expectations-Weekend Sessions-2010 Schedule

    Childbirth Preparation (formerly Great Expectations) is designed to help expentant parents ready themselves for the practical, physical and emotional challenges of childbirth.

    Topics covered are:

  • Anatomy and Pre-Labor
  • Onset of Labor
  • The 3 stages of Labor
  • The Labor Partners Role
  • Comfort Measures
  • Pain Management Options
  • Caesrean Section
  • Postpartum care

    Infant care and breastfeeding are not covered in this course

    Register at the fourth month of pregnancy. Participants are advised to complete their childbirth preparation class a month to six weeks prior to their due date.

    A lunch break will be provided; however, there is no cafeteria open on the weekends. Please plan to bring your own lunch or you can go to a local eatery.

    The class cost is $135.00 per couple. We don't bill insurance companies but will provide you a receipt to submit if covered by your specific company. Please contact your local company for coverage information.

    This schedule is two Thursday evenings as opposed to the 1 weekend day.

    Register at the fourth month of pregnancy. Participants are advised to complete their childbirth preparation class a month to six weeks prior to their due date.

    CPR-Pediatric-2010 Schedule

    Prepares parents or other caregivers to practice the American Heart Association method of CPR Heartsaver on babies and small children.

    This class is for the lay person and is NOT appropriate for Patient Care Personnel, Lifeguards, Police Officers or Fire Fighters.

    Participants receive a card at the end of the class indicating they have passed. There is a test at the end.

    Our New Baby-2010 Schedule

    Big brothers and sisters explore life with a new baby. Kids read a story, watch a short movie, play with dolls, practice feeding and diaper changing, learn what babies can and cannot do, make a card for the baby.

    Parents also can ask questions about any special concerns. Kids take home coloring books and T-shirts. Minimum age is 3-years-old.

    Due to H1N1 children under 16 are not permitted in the Family Birth Center, so no tour will take place.

    Parents should schedule class between the seventh and ninth month of pregnancy.

    January - December 2010
    This group is a safe place for new moms (0-5 months) and their partners to come and receive support on various issues related to breastfeeding. Scale is available for weight checks and we offer free valet parking.

    HAND (Helping After Neonatal Death)

    Grief support for parents who have experienced the loss of a baby before, during or after birth.

    Third Wednesday  7:30 - 9:30 PM of every month

    Subsequent pregnancy peer support for parents anticipating another baby to help with emotional and psychological needs.
