    Diabetes Education & Nutrition Services

Mills-Peninsula’s Diabetes Education program is certified by the American Diabetes Association and helps people manage their diabetes. Our diabetes educators continually update their knowledge and provide the latest information about nutrition, medications, exercise and technology to promote excellent patient outcomes.

We use a team approach to address all aspects of diabetes treatment and management. Our nurses and dietitians coordinate care with your physician to assure that you receive education on diet and exercise, monitoring blood glucose and medications. Personal, family and financial issues that affect self-care are also considered.

Our Nutrition Services program offers a variety of choices to help people maintain healthy eating habits. Services include classes about nutrition, weight loss programs and individual counseling with a registered dietitian for general weight management or help in managing special diets for heart disease, cancer or other medical conditions. We provide counseling for people considering gastric bypass surgery. We also see children with special eating needs.

Our registered nurses and registered dietitians are all certified diabetes educators. We have received additional counseling training that enhances our ability to help people achieve their desired goals.
