Community Benefit Grants
As part of our commitment to giving back to the communities we serve, Mills-Peninsula Health Services provides community grants to San Mateo County-based organizations that provide health-related services to local residents. These services must fall into one of three categories:
- Programs for the underserved
- Programs for residents with special needs
- Services or programs that fulfill a need currently not being met
Each year, Mills-Peninsula conducts a financial feasibility review to determine whether it will be possible to fund community grants. As feasible, the program opens to proposals in November for awards in the following year.
In order to help as many organizations as possible with a limited pool of funds, programs may apply each year for funding for a maximum of three years. Grant recipients are required to submit a report about how the money was spent, including outcomes.
In addition to our community grants, Mills-Peninsula donated to the American Red Cross International Disaster Relief Fund after Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, and to Philos Health, a non-profit organization that many of our employees have volunteered with for years. Philos Health works directly with communities in the Philippines, bringing health care providers, medical supplies, equipment and medicines to communities in need.
Sutter Health also authorized a donation to the Red Cross International Disaster Relief Fund and to the International Medical Corps.
