I notice that in your ad you feature sleeping accommodations for family in all the rooms. Can my child “sleep over” with me?

    • While we understand how important it is for you to see your children, unfortunately, for safety purposes children cannot stay over night. Children are welcome to visit you during the day (7 a.m. to 10 p.m.). When they are here, they must be supervised by an adult (who is not the patient) and they must wear shoes at all times. Because the hospital can be frightening place for a child and confining for their energy needs, we encourage you to keep visits by your children short. /li>
Can my visitors come any time of the day or night?
    • Family and other partners in care are defined by you, and are welcome to be with you 24 hours a day. There is space/sleeping accommodations for one adult overnight support person. Other family and friends are encouraged to visit between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m., as long as they are free from illness.
    • Because your stay with us is so short and the first few days with your baby and partner are so special, we encourage you to limit visitors to those who are important to you and your new baby’s care. Too many visitors can interfere with bonding with your baby, recovering from your delivery and preparing to care for your newborn at home.
Does the Family Birth Center have “Quiet Time”?
    • We have daily Quiet Time from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. and any other time based on your individual needs. During this time, voices and TV volume should be kept low and lights dimmed. Phone calls should take place quietly. Please set phones and other electronic devices to vibrate.
When not in my room, where can my visitors and families go?
    • For the safety and privacy of all patients, visitors not in your room, must be in one of the designated family/visitor lounge areas within the Family Birth Center (FBC) or hospital. Hallways need to be kept clear.
    • There is a family lounge within the FBC as well as an outside garden area. Outside of the FBC, and, on the main lobby level there are additional seating areas, gardens, and a cafeteria (the Atrium).
You have garden on the FBC. Can I bring my baby out there?
    • The garden is a great place for you to spend time in early labor, but unfortunately, because of safety and health concerns, newborns cannot be brought out to the garden area
Can my visitors/family use my bathroom
    • There are visitor bathrooms within the FBC. All visitors and family should use those. The person spending the night with you may share your bathroom and shower.
