About the Birth Center
The same family-centered care provided today will continue in our new $618 million Mills-Peninsula Medical Center. This state-of-the-art facility is home to a new Family Birth Center with 30 private rooms for mother, newborn and spouse/partner. Each room was designed for labor, delivery recovery and postpartum care. Several rooms overlook gardens; all have outdoor views.

- Wireless monitors allow laboring mothers to walk outside their rooms without interrupting fetal heart rate monitoring
- State-of-the-art infant security system
- Mother and newborn stay together in the same suite
- All rooms have sleep accommodations for family, a refrigerator and large television
- Two C-section surgery and recovery rooms
- 12-bed neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and Level II nursery equipped to care for premature babies and babies who need specialized medical support
- All rooms have 100 percent fresh air
- Special care nursery (NICU) has six rooms with sleeper accommodations for family
- Windows, gardens and outdoor patio enhance the friendly, sunny atmosphere
