Expert care for babies with special needs

Most newborns are able to stay in the room with their mother. But if your baby needs special care, the Family Birth Center is equipped with a skilled level II neonatal intensive nursery staffed by experienced specialty nurses and doctors.

The level II nursery is staffed with highly trained and skilled neonatologists and/or pediatricians specializing in newborns. They are on duty in the Birth Center seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

They not only provide care to our high-risk babies in the nursery, they also are there to attend to babies at birth or any time the need arises. This high level of expert attention and care is further ensured by our close relationship with our Sutter Health “sister” affiliate, California Pacific Medical Center, in San Francisco.

We know how important it is for mothers to be close to their infant. If your baby needs to stay in the hospital after you go home, the Family Birth Center can help by arranging overnight accommodations for you.
