About the Family Birth Center
Mills-Peninsula’s Family Birth Center is a community favorite, delivering more new San Mateo County residents than any other hospital. That’s because we offer a unique combination of advanced medical expertise in a family-friendly environment. Most moms labor, deliver and recover in our spacious birthing suites.

There also are two state-of-the-art Caesarean surgery (C-section) rooms and a Level 2 intensive care nursery (ICN) for new arrivals with special needs. By working closely with California Pacific Medical Center, our Sutter Health partner in San Francisco, we can accommodate moms and babies with complex medical requirements.

Mothers have the option to choose who can participate in their labor and delivery experience. Afterward, mother and baby remain together in a quiet, private room until they go home. Nursing staff, along with lactation consultants, offer coaching, support and encouragement. Breastfeeding education and support groups also are available.
