Inpatient stabilization treats people with substance abuse addictions in the medical center after they have completed detoxification. This type of inpatient substance abuse treatment helps people make the transition from acute detox to outpatient care they continue when at home.
Inpatient Substance Abuse Treatment
Mills-Peninsula offers intensive substance abuse treatment in a safe, confidential environment. Inpatient stabilization is designed to help people who have advanced substance abuse disease, and who are not yet able to cope with the challenges of daily living and work.
Patients generally participate for two to seven days following detoxification, if medically necessary. They attend 45 hours of structured activity a week, then progress to a residential treatment referral or continue on to intensive outpatient treatment. Families and significant others participate for 4.5 hours of education and group therapy each week.
Key components of the Inpatient
Stabilization program include:
- Individual and family relationship counseling
- Group therapy
- Family education and support, including the impact of addiction on the family
- Stress management education
