Dual Diagnosis Treatment Programs
Mills-Peninsula offers an integrated treatment approach for teenagers, adults and seniors who have significant mental health problems complicated by substance abuse. We’re here to help you get your life back on track.
Our behavioral health staff provides a thorough dual diagnosis, which includes psychiatric evaluations and substance abuse assessments.
Dual diagnosis treatment is tailored to your individual needs, with careful attention to ensuring that psychiatric and chemical dependency components are balanced. We offer a full continuum of care, including inpatient, partial hospital and/or outpatient services, as needed.
Specialized programs are offered to adolescents, including a partial hospital program, outpatient and early intervention services.
Our Dual Diagnosis Treatment
Mental Health/Substance Abuse
If a hospital stay, including detoxification, is the first step needed to help you on the road to recovery, our inpatient program will provide you with the best care in a secure hospital ward.
Our expert and compassionate staff will focus on teaching you to manage your psychiatric disorder and substance (alcohol and drugs) abuse problem through therapy and educational groups.
When patients are ready to progress, we provide referrals to appropriate outpatient services, including our own programs, residential treatment and/or other community services.
Partial Hospital Program
If you need a rigorous, structured program to help you overcome your behavioral health problems, our partially hospital-based program can help you.
Patients participate in structured treatment for five to six hours a day, five days a week. They go home at the end of the day. The program lasts from one to six weeks.
Individualized dual diagnosis treatment includes psychotherapy, medication management and education for stress reduction.
Intensive Outpatient Program
This program helps adults, seniors and adolescents who do not require the structured environment of a hospital setting, but do have mental health and substance abuse problems that interfere with their daily activities.
Individual treatment may include group therapy and stress management reduction.
Important features of our dual diagnosis treatment programs include:
- Medically supervised detoxification when needed
- Psychiatric and medical evaluation
- Substance abuse assessment
- Therapeutic medications (when medically indicated)
- Individual and group substance abuse education
- Group therapy
- Individual and group family treatment
- Support and referral to outpatient services (Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Alanon and Codependents Anonymous meeting are held on site.)
